BOWS & WOOLS

The crazy weather in Southern California has definitely kept me on my toes when it comes to dressing. It's been so up and down! One day freezing, next day hot, another day raining. So today I took the liberty of layering so if it did get a little hotter I can take one layer off....which I eventually did!

I dug this gorgeous high-waist wool skirt out of the back of my closet and did not realize what a pretty fit it had; I then looked at the label and of course it fit well, it was after all a Calvin Klein. I was going to pair it with an ascot top but i deemed it too Liberian for me;  I felt it made me look older, haha. The skirt is a lovely tea length, which has recently become one of my favorite lengths as of late. And as always high-waist beats low waist any time in my book. The top has a bow & polka-dot print, but my favorite part is the collar which looked perfect with the layering of the sweater.

ALEJANDRA QUESADA

It's been a while since I last blogged about Alejandra Quesada and her amazing collections! Last blog post was way back in 2010 which you can see HERE. Although the most recent collection on her website is  her Autumn Winter 2010 / 2011, every piece here I would wear today! It was hard picking my favorites because I was so drawn to how beautifully whimsical her editorial was. It takes me back to child-hood fairy tails and the world of Alice in Wonderland. Boy, would I love to fall into that rabbit hole full of wonderfully, colorful, and richly detailed clothes. As always, her cultural roots shines through with the  use of embroidery, definitely an ode to her home country of Mexico. Her love of vintage is proudly displayed as well, with the cutest pinafore checkered dress and that lovely burgundy cape; not to mention the loop rick-rack on the plaid a-line dress, swoon! With her use of trims, my list of adoration for her details would go on and on.......

Can I just say amazing, did you see those tights! What are your favorites?

DOMINIQUE VER EECKE SPRING 12

Another gorgeous season of beautiful, photographic, eye popping prints in the world of Dominique Ver Eecke. Once again, he accomplishes to bring together fun prints in bold colors. The gradient black and white swan dress and the rich colored photo real dress are among my top favorites. If I were still a kid, I would be seen twirling in this pretty comfortable girly cut dresses. Since I'm no longer that, I will just have to continue to admire his work in children's fashion season after season!

SHOP UPDATE: IT'S BLAZER SEASON!

Hi all, happy Monday! It's a blazer update today! I hit the mall last weekend and noticed that blazers were trending this season. The irony is though, that I've actually had a few of these for a few years, but then again vintage is always in...

It's hard to pick my favorites from this group, but I love the colored roll up sleeve blazers, especially the blush colored one, and the Oleg Cassini houndstooth blazer. It is so indicative of the 80's era, bold color, bold shoulder with the mens wear twist but with the feminine fit; the best of the 80's.

Blogger was acting wacky once again, I could not link the photos; please click the links below to get the full details:

FLAPPER GIRL BLUES

Showing off yet another polyester printed shirt, but this one by far is my favorite! It was a gift from my freind Karen of Misha LuLu. It has a 1920's flapper girl repeat print. It's actually made of the softest polyester and is nice and snug to the body. Karen had mentioned I should wear it with a high-waist pants, exactly how I pictured it styled when I first saw it!

I found the rusted door pictured behind to be a accidental work of art. I always find myself looking at it every time i drive by. The rust gives it an amazing pop of color!

At times I regret tweaking certain vintage items, in this case it's the necklace I'm wearing. It was much longer, but at the time it did not appeal to me to wear it that long. Now, I sort of want to kick myself because it is a glass bead 1960's necklace; can't you just imagine it long? Oh well, you learn quick, I cut the necklace down 10 years ago, and taste sometimes change.

Do any of you still like printed polyester tops.....or I and Karen the only ones, haha?

SHOP UPDATE: DRESSES & SKIRTS

Hi y'all! Hope this weeks been treating you good. I've had a very up and down week myself, which includes the melt down of my computer (insert crying here). But no, you just have to keep going no matter the obstacles and not do something stupid like throw the computer against the wall; like I wanted to do a little earlier. Thank goodness for my sweet daughter Zoe letting me borrow hers!

I'm playing catch up here, showing you some dresses and skirts I posted last week to the shop. Click the picture for full details.
